2 Thessalonians Don’t Withdraw but…. Already in the Sequel that is 2 Thessalonians we have learned that we the soil of adversity gives growth to our faith, we can’t panic, but acknowledge evil will become rampant and our trust in God must increase. Today we are instructed “Don’t withdraw but pray for each other, participate in life and prosper in the peace, presence of God. Pray for each other 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 Pray for me is Paul’s request. Paul’s need for individual support spiritually and to ensure that the Gospel would spread rapidly. Pray that the Gospel of grace and forgiveness be honored. Pray “evil” will not silence the preachers or damping the witness of Christians. Pray for the church folks. Prayer for strengthen the face not replacing affliction, but to overcome it. The divine work of God would happen in each individual. Participate in life, society because the world is watching. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-15 Withdrawal is NOT an option for Christians! Command is a solemn authority not a mere suggestion. Compare what they are doing with my example. He always earned his way even though he was entitled to be supported by the Church. I Corinthians 9:14 “The Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel”. Complete economic independence is honored and expected in Jewish thought. Create a policy in your fellowship concerning idleness. Warning (3:11-15)Christian witness is more than words. Christian witness is harmed because people are watching. James 2:26 “As the body with the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds are dead!” Command:(3:14-15) Refusing to work is an insult to the Jewish mind. Prosper in our faith in the Lord 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18 Peace of the Lord is the ultimate healer. The Lord is with us in each and every circumstance of life. Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not...

2 Thessalonians “Don’t Panic but…” 2 Thessalonians 2 Paul had quickly written the Sequel to I Thessalonians because of some untruths being taught and misunderstanding of the first letter. Chapter one’s theme is “It’s tough but” we learn adversity is the soil in which our faith can grow, that God will have the final and last word and faith can find its most powerful voice when we engage with God in prayer. Chapter 2 gives us more instructions of living in the light of the return of Jesus. “Don’t Panic, but….” Acknowledge there is a concern in many people about the Lord’s return. Accept the sad reality that there is a battle over the souls of people we know and love and allow our trust in God to grow as we engage with our society. Acknowledge a concern in many about the Lord’s return. 2 Thess. 2:1-3;5-6 Gathering to Jesus: Jesus will have His Church with Him always. We gather ourselves on earth in a place of worship, but some fail to gather and fail to reap the blessings that other Christians can give them. Goal of God in these passages: 1. Prevent believers from being “unsettled” panic. 2. Prevent alarm, uneasiness and apprehension. 3. Prevent falling into deception a deliberate act. 4. Call to our remembrance of what has already been taught about the Lord’s return. 5. Introduce a restrainer. Accept the reality the battle for the souls of mankind. 2 Thess. 2:3b-4; 7-12 Opposition to the Creator God: Lawless One is a person who will oppose all God has instructed. Lawless One will accept worship. Lawless One will create an ongoing assault on Godly values, moral and the teaching of God’s involvement. Outcome for the Lawless One will be His destruction by the very voice of God. The...

2 Thessalonians: It’s Tough but …. 2 Thessalonians 1 2 Thessalonica deals with a concern to clarify things concerning the Second coming of Jesus. Chapter 1 addresses this with three truths about faith. Faith grows in the soil of adversity. Faith instructs us that God will have the last word and faith finds it’s voice in prayer. Faith grows in the soil of adversity. 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4 Salutation: 1:1-2 Greeting from the Lord Jesus and Father. A greeting of grace and peace of God. Saints at Thessalonica was now filled with self -despairing. There is no criticism here Paul sought to encourage to build a stronger faith. Faith was growing! Love was increasing. Love increases so grows our service to others. Followers of Jesus become less self-absorbed and focused on others. Soil of adversity Greek word for endurance does not mean simply dealing in a passive matter with the circumstances. It means mastering the circumstances. Accepting the difficult parts of life that allows them to become “stepping stones” for new grow in our faith and love for God and others. Faith instructs that God will have the last word. 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10    God alone has the wisdom, knowledge and judgements are not traceable by our mind. Final words of result are counting believers worthy of the Kingdom. Final words are just as He deals with suffering and provide relief. Final words when Jesus returns will repay those who afflict and relieve those who are afflicted. Final words of God will produce retribution to those who do not know God. (vv8-9) Refusal to accept the invitation of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is the greatest insult to God’s love, mercy and grace a person can offer. This refusal will not go unnoticed by God. Faith is given a...
